Ahhhhh 🙂 How many of yall remember those lyrics in the subject line??
Well. In case you’re super late on your Hip-Hop…those words come from the “Interlude” of Dr. Dre’s Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat.
Any who~ I found that line quite fitting for the fact that Mr. Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams will need to cough-up about $7.4 MILLION dollars to Marvin Gaye’s babies for basically straight jacking their dad’s beat to “Got to Give it Up.” Instead of those lil’ weasels simply getting the sample CLEARED from the beginning and breaking Marvin’s babies off something proper IN. THE. BEGINNNING. Their dumb a$$es decide to ACT (Ying Yang Twins voice) like it was a damn original beat and pass it off as such…and thought that mega damn HIT in 2013 would go Unnoticed by anybody who truly knows music. Ummm yeh. Pharrell? The musical genius that you are…you should have known better. Pharrell is uber talented in his own right and can and will create original tracks at-will; however, his a$$ knows damn well he stole Marvin’s original and should have simply gone to those children in the beginning and said, here…take that! (P. Diddy voice). Trust me, the “that” would have been a lot LESS than over 7 million!!
But, hey…sometimes arrogance needs to be taught a lesson too.
Counter-suing those offspring was NOT the move. I bet they (Robin & Pharrell) see that now. Pharrell and Robin should have handled that situation the same way Sam Smith did with Tom Petty regarding “Stay With Me!” Tom was like, “Yo…dude, that’s my damn song. You do know that, don’t you?” Sam was like, “It is? Ok cool. You’re right. Here’s your bread.” The End.
Chile, The Gaye’s said…”Oh yall just gon’ send for us like that? Ok…then…well, we’re coming for you!!”
The moral of This story: DO NOT MESS WITH ‘THE CHILDREN.’
(and never “come” for them ~ unless they “send” for you!)
The only person ‘cleared’ in the matter was my boyfriend: T.I. ~ for obvious reasons…his rap was original and quite independent of the plagiarism foolery.
TMI? I think Not. That was just enough!
Do I Love You? Yes I Do. (Kisses)
